RIC's (Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) Director of Women's Health Program Dr. Colleen Fitzgerald talks about pelvic pain and pregnancy-related pain. Many women suffer from these problems without realizing that there is available treatment for these significantly disabling pain conditions.
Colleen M. Fitzgerald, MD is the medical director of Women’s Health Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation of Chicago (RIC) and assistant professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Fitzgerald’s areas of clinical expertise and research include pregnancy-related pain disorders, pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and pelvic rehabilitation. Dr. Fitzgerald received her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 1996 and completed her post-graduate training at the RIC and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2000, where she served as chief resident. She is the Co-Chair for the past 2010 and upcoming 2013 World Congress on Low Back and Pelvic Pain in Dubai. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the International Pelvic Pain Society. She serves on the Advisory Council for the Women’s Health Foundation.
