Julee Stand has been a clinical outpatient dietician with Mission Hospital since 2005, where she counsels patients and families to help them meet nutritional needs and goals. She has developed and implemented nutrition care plans for various conditions such as obesity, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, heart disease and more. During her time at Mission, Stand also has overseen and taught extensive weight management programs, successfully helping patients obtain their weight goals and make significant life changes. Prior to working at Mission, Stand was a public health nutritionist for the Health Care Agency of Orange County, where she managed Women, Infants and Children (WIC) clinics that served thousands of residents. Through the WIC program, she assessed nutritional risk and provided nutrition education counseling to pregnant women, young mothers and children. Stand has also created a nutrition education class and materials on “Healthy Cooking for the Family.” In the last three consecutive years, Stand has been nominated by her peers for the St. Joseph Health System/ Mission Hospital Values in Action Award for “Excellence,” “Justice” and “Service.” The Values in Action Awards honor individuals who have made a positive difference in the quality of life in south Orange County through vocation, volunteerism, avocation and philanthropy.
