David R. Gwynn, M.D., has been practicing ophthalmology in Orange County since 2002. Ophthalmology is the study of diseases of the eye and visual pathways, which can include surgical correction. His areas of interest are in cataract, cornea and refractive surgery, which are all surgeries performed to correct eye vision. He has a subspecialty interest in LASIK, an advanced surgical procedure utilizing laser technology to correct vision. He has received special advanced trainingn in “bladeless” LASIK, which provides fewer complications and a quicker recovery. Dr. Gwynn received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, and received both his master’s in philosophy and doctor of medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He is board certified and a Diplomate with the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has lectured at several symposiums across the country since 1996 and has been a research fellow at Georgetown University and the National Eye Institute. Dr. Gwynn strongly believes that communication and compassion is every bit as important as skill and technology, and strives to emphasize these aspects with every patient interaction.
