Dr. Richard Lichenstein, a member of the AAP Committee on Injury, Violence & Poison Prevention, comes on the show to discuss how to keep your family safe this 4th of July around fireworks.

Richard Lichenstein graduated medical school from the Upstate Medical Center and completed his residency in Pediatrics at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in NY. Subsequently he did a fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics at Jacobi Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine before moving to Maryland. He has been on faculty at the University of Maryland first as an Assistant Professor and currently is Associate Professor of Pediatrics. He is boarded in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and has been division director and currently is in charge of pediatric emergency medicine research at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the editor-in-chief, of an award winning Internet medical educational resource called iPeds on the medconnect.com website For the last 13 years he has been involved in the chapter on the committees of pediatric emergency medicine and injury and violence and poison prevention. He is currently on the Academy's Committee on Injury and Violence and Poison Prevention where his efforts are focused on violence prevention and prevention of teen driving injuries. He is also currently focusing his pediatric emergency medicine research and educational interests with some novel computer medical education software applications
