Dr. Joel Stern is the Assistant Medical Director at North Shore Medical Center in Miami. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Stern has been practicing in South Florida full time for the past 10 years. Prior to joining St. Mary’s, he was the Emergency Department Medical Director at Hollywood Medical Center, and an Assistant Medical Director for Super Boat International Offshore Powerboat Racing. Dr. Stern has extensive clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, Occupational Medicine and the Air Ambulance Transport. He is also the Physician Staffing Coordinator for Aero Jet International, occupational medicine and air ambulance transport. Dr. Stern obtained his M.D. from Dartmouth and Brown University in 1991 by completing a combined program in medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Medical Center of Delaware and Christiana Hospital from 1991 - 1994. Additionally, Dr. Stern is the founder and immediate past president of the Florida Academy of Emergency Medicine, as well as a Medical Expert Case Reviewer for the Florida Department of Health since 2005.
