The American College of Emergency Physician's (ACEP) current Vice President, Dr. Kathleen Cowling joins the show to discuss the importance of fireworks safety this summer, particularly over the 4th of July weekend. She will provide tips to keep your family safe around fireworks, especially when setting off your own.

Dr. Kathleen Cowling is currently ACEP’s Vice President as well as an attending physician for Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, Michigan and serves as core faculty for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program of the Synergy Medical Education Alliance and assistant clinical professor for College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University, where she also served as chief resident from 1994 to 95. At the state level, Dr. Cowling has served in numerous leadership roles, including president of the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians. At the national level, she has served as a member of ACEP's Public Relations Committee, State-Legislative and Regulatory Committee, and Education Committee. Dr. Cowling also has been the board liaison to the On-Call Task Force, the residency visit program, the Reimbursement Committee, and Membership Committee, in addition to other programs. Dr. Cowling earned her doctor of osteopathy from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991 and completed her internship at the Ingham Medical Center in Lansing. She completed her residency at Michigan State University-Lansing, Sparrow-Ingham Medical Center Affiliated Hospitals in 1995.
