A former chair of ACEP’s Public Relations Committee, Dr. O’Brien is a nationally recognized media health commentator best known for his role as an emergency medicine specialist on "Healthcare Now!," a nationally broadcast, 60-second radio newsfeed that goes to 680 radio stations nationwide. Dr. O’Brien also writes for the related Bottom Line: Health and is a regular contributor to His most memorable story: a 2002 editorial about the detrimental effects of ambulance diversions that was used by ACEP lobbyists during the Legislative and Leadership conference in Washington to illustrate the severity of overcrowding in the nation’s emergency departments, as well as by his state chapter, Pennsylvania ACEP, in lobbying efforts.
