How to Keep the Men in Your Life Healthy All Year Long
With Fathers day upon us and the month of June celebrating Men's Health Month, we take a hard look at the health of the men in our lives...but how can we make simple adjustments to keep them healthy all year long? Dena McDowell, M.S., R.D., nutritional expert for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) joins the show with some simple and effective tips to help keep Dad healthy all year long!
Dena McDowell is a registered dietitian and has worked as a clinical dietitian for the last eleven years. She works part-time in the Clinical Cancer Center at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. She also participates in the hospital’s community education program teaching the public about current topics in nutrition. She has guest lectured at Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Published works include the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s “Savvy Fare” section, M Magazine, Women and Cancer Magazine, and the Nutrition in Clinical Practice Journal. McDowell also has written for the Medical College of Wisconsin’s “Healthlink” and “Heads UP” bulletins. Dena also writes for TOPS Club, including various chapter programs and magazine articles to promote healthy living and weight loss. Dena completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin. She went on to complete a dietetic internship at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wis. as well as complete a master’s degree in Nutrition with an emphasis in counseling. Dena was the recipient of the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year in 2004 by the Wisconsin Dietetic Association. She is the Wisconsin Dietetic Association representative for the Wisconsin Cancer Control Committee and is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Oncology Dietetic practice group.
