Talking About Sex
Author Mary Roach talks about writing "Bonk", a scientific exploration of sex and human weirdness, so-called medical science, and people's creative pursuit of sexual satisfaction.
Mary Roach graduated from Wesleyan University in 1981, moved to San Francisco, and worked as a freelance copy editor and journalist, also handling PR for the SF Zoo. Her articles and book reviews have appeared in Outside, National Geographic, New Scientist, Wired and The New York Times Magazine. Her 1995 article "How to Win at Germ Warfare" was a National Magazine Award Finalist, and in 1996, her article on earthquake-proof bamboo houses took the Engineering Journalism Award in the general interest magazine category. She often writes about science even though she lacks a scientific background. Her first book, Stiff, was an offshoot of a reported humor column for Salon.com.
