STEVEN A. ABRAMS, M.D., is Professor of Pediatrics, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. His research focus is mineral metabolism in infants and children. Dr. Abrams, a neonatologist, is a Diplomat of the Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Pediatrics, and the Sub-board of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He is a member of an advisory panel for The Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP). He is an associate editor of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and a member of the Committee on Nutrition of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Abrams served as an IOM committee member for the Panel on Calcium and Related Nutrients for Dietary Reference Intakes (1996-1997), the Subcommitee on Upper Safe Reference Levels of Nutrients (1996-1997) and most recently the Panel on Dietary Reference Intakes for Calcium and Vitamin D (2008-2010).
