Dr. Holly Nash received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota, and a Master's Degree in epidemiology (the study of the transmission, distribution, and control of disease) from the University of Wisconsin. She has worked in a primarily dairy practice, as a veterinary epidemiologist, and as a companion animal veterinarian.
Dr. Nash has been with Doctors Foster and Smith since 1998. She has always been interested in the human-animal bond and the education of animal owners, and finds being Editor of PetEducation.com a perfect match. She enjoys and has had experience working with many species of animals, and is a member of the American and Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Associations.
Katharine Hillestad, DVM
Dr. Kathy Hillestad received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois. She is a companion animal veterinarian and has a special interest in feline medicine, animal behavior and nutrition. Dr. Hillestad has been with Doctors Foster and Smith since 2001. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association.
Scott Alan McKay, DVM
Dr. Scott McKay received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University. He has worked with large and small animals in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Some of Dr. McKay's interests include educating clients on how to best care for their animals and the human-animal bond. He has a special interest in wildlife.
Dr. McKay has been with Doctors Foster and Smith since 2007. He has worked with a wide variety of animals and enjoys the diversity of this profession. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association.

Kevin Kohen, BS
LiveAquaria.com Director Kevin Kohen has extensive experience in the tropical fish industry, regarded by peers as being one of the leading industry authorities on marine fish husbandry, identification, handling, acclimation, and shipping. As a hobbyist/enthusiast, Kevin established his first aquarium when he was only six years old, which evolved to keeping more than 21 freshwater and marine aquariums by the age of 16. He launched his career working in a retail fish store for eight years before advancing to direct operations for over eight more at one of the Midwest' largest tropical fish wholesale and import/export businesses.
During that time, he gained considerable knowledge experimenting with various shipping techniques, medication protocols, and filtration technologies, striving to improve the well-being of aquarium animals while reducing mortality rates. For over 20 years, he has been a leading advocate for specialized shipping techniques that ensure the health of aquatic life during transit.
In 2004, Kevin proposed starting up an aquaculture coral facility at Drs. Foster and Smith's headquarters in Rhinelander, WI, designing and directing the initial construction of the Midwest's most state-of-the-art Aquaculture Coral & Marine Life Facility, which opened in July of 2005. In 2007, he designed Phase II of the facility, which more than doubled the size to over 20,000 gallons, adding more coral raceways and quarantine systems for corals and invertebrates, along with three dedicated fish systems to house rare and unusual saltwater fish from around the world.
Kevin has bred and reared nearly 100 species of fresh and saltwater fish and was one of the early pioneers in the U.S. to maintain live corals in captivity in the early 1980's. He has a special interest in Small Polyp Stony Corals (SPS), Non-Photosynthetic (NPS) corals, and filter feeding invertebrates. He currently maintains a thriving Acropora dominated SPS reef aquarium, as well as a beautiful and very successful NPS aquarium in his office here at Drs. Foster and Smith.
Most recently, Kevin successfully paired, and spawned, several batches of eggs from the rare McCulloch's clownfish (Amphiprion mccullochi) at the LiveAquaria.com facility in Rhinelander, WI! Kevin is the first person in the U.S to accomplish this feat, and one of only two expert aquarists in the world to successfully breed McCulloch's clownfish.
Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Wright State University, and is a member of the Marine Aquarium Societies of North America (MASNA), and participates in the local reef aquarium club, Northern Wisconsin Reef Society. He has received the Saltwater Aquarium of the Year and Reef Aquarium of the Year awards from the Greater Dayton Aquarium Society.
